Cast: Ranveer Singh as Ram, Deepika Padukone as Leela, Priyanka Chopra (In an item song), Supriya Pathak Kapoor, Abhimanyu Shekher Singh
Director: Sanjay Leela Bhanshali
Ramleela is Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s take on Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. The film is no sort of all things grandeur from movie sets, ethnic fancy costumes actors don , songs picturisation to choreography which director is no stranger to. The film exhibits opulence but falls short of keeping the audience hooked till the end .When I first watched the trailer of this movie I was so sure that it is going to be magical experience watching this drama unfold, unfortunately I was tremendously let down. Yes the movie is spellbinding and engaging some of the scenes stays with you even when you leave the theater but sadly after the interval the plot loses its fluency and somewhat turns out to be debacle. I was so exasperated after a while of interval I could not wait for the hero and heroine to meet the fate of Romeo and Juliet so that the movie would come to an end. The passionate chemistry between two lead actors is unashamedly portrayed in a very scintillating manner which makes this offering of SLB worth watching. But I would have loved to see more scenes of building up of their love story rather than scenes where they are acting like sexually frustrated teenagers. Deepika looks and acts beautiful but Ranveer and Supriya Pathak completely stole the show for me. Even when Ranveer was overdoing in some scenes I still liked him. Supriya acts out with her eyes, she is absolutely brilliant.
